Here's a group of people who have taken the display keyboard concept for a thorough spin. Provided you can manufacture a display keyboard cheaply, I think it's promising. For sure, it would make the keyboard look real clean when you switch it off.

Touch Projector: Mobile Interaction Through Video



I think this is absolutely crazy. This solution is so computationally expensive it's ridiculous. Still. In a few years, computing power will be tremendous, so who cares. Just do it!

Skinput: Appropriating the Body as an Input Surface



Microsoft has found a way to measure acoustically when you tap a part of your body. Neat. I wonder if you could use microphones in a mobile phone to measure what goes on in the arm when you're holding the phone. Then you might have a really cheap touchpad on your arm.
