RidgePad: Doubling touch accuracy

From the paper at CHI this week:
The Generalized Perceived Input Point Model and How to Double Touch Accuracy by Extracting Fingerprints

Patrick Baudisch et. al. has figured out a way to dramatically increase touch accuracy by measuring the finger angle.

They argue that by using new techniques, we could make smaller buttons for touch screens. Somewhere in the neighbourhood of half the width and half the height. Today, the standard recommendation minimum size for touch screen buttons is 1x1cm.

UIST'09: Bonfire: a nomadic system for hybrid laptop-tabletop interaction

This is a nice concept for laptops. You can use space next to the laptop to interact with. Always interesting to see what Johnny Chung Lee is up to.

Human-Robot Jazz Improvisation (Highlights)

I would love a virtual version of this for my iPhone. Or just to be able to lay my iPhone next to a piano and start playing, and get a little accompaniment here and there when I play. Is there something like this already in the appStore?
